Control4 X4 Upgrade - What We Know
THE X4 UPGRADE
The Control4 X4 upgrade is nearly here and we’re super excited about the new features! We have a complete graphics overhaul, the introduction of Widgets & Routines, a new Home Screen, and much more.
Let’s take a dive in and wade through these new features with your trusted Control4 Dealer here in Tampa, FL.
ROUTINES
Long overdue, Control4 is adding the capability for users to create their own automated routines (aka ‘Scenes’). Create your own custom Lighting routine that dim’s the lights for your upcoming party. Let’s add in a few zones of music to this routine to come on at a specified volume. And we’ll follow that up with a streaming music playlist or radio station we like to set the vibe.
With 1-button press, we’ve now set the lights for the house, the music, the volume, and a playlist. No fiddling around with multiple app’s, equipment in the cabinet, or chasing down multiple dimmers to get your lights set.
Hard to beat, particularly when you have a large residence.

HOME SCREEN
Just like your iPhone or Android, we’re now going to have the ability to customize the home screen. This will further simplify the control for the things we primarily use on a daily basis.
Let’s add the status of the Thermostat’s to the main screen, maybe the Camera stream for the Front Door and Garage, and then let’s go with the status of our Security system so we can quickly arm and disarm. We can even add the Routines we just created above.
WIDGETS
Widgets are a new feature that will be part and parcel to the Home Screen. For every device you have in your home, think Thermostats, Lights, Motorized Shades, Cameras, Zones of Audio/Video, Security, TV’s, etc. will be a specific Widget. Within these Widget’s will be commonly used functions for each device that you can add to the Home Screen.
User’s will have the capability to personalize each of these Widgets on the Home Screen. Swap Widgets in and out, rearrange and re-size each Widget, and customize the Home Screen to your liking.
